The Quantum-Safe and Secure Architectures Research Laboratory (QUASAR Lab) at Grand Valley State University, under the direction of Dr. Twardokus, develops and evaluates practical security architectures for emerging technologies and communication systems in a threat landscape increasingly shaped by the prospect of quantum technologies. The lab’s research spans post-quantum cryptography, wireless and connected-system security, quantum-enabled threats, and rigorous security evaluation using digital twins and hardware-in-the-loop testbeds. With particular attention to constrained, distributed, and safety-critical environments, the lab investigates vulnerabilities, characterizes the performance and deployment costs of emerging defenses, and designs secure systems that remain resilient without compromising the functionality and efficiency required for real-world use.
